Palabra por la dia,

...or even of the week might be a good idea, David. no?

A word that we could explore in it's different forms and uses. There are so many words with different meanings, and then all those conjugations and tenses.

one like say; soplar that has about 20 English meanings and blow that has about 80 Spanish meanings.

Then like the puffed wheat thread, is inflado which cross references with soplar, but not blow. (in Tomisimo) Altavista translates puffed as soplado.

Gracias,
juan

Good ideas celador and v9.

Were you thinking a word of the day/week type of thing? or were you saying add a word a day to the dictionary?

I thought maybe add another category to the forum. Then treat that word in it's variations for discussion. I would be especially interested in how it used idiomatically. What are the nuances of choosing THAT word, in a particular context over one that has a similar meaning?

Probably one for the week, or it might get to be too much work to keep up.

Another idea might be like the word game, to interactively come up with other ways to use the word in grammar, tense, gender, person, or context etc.

A good example I saw this week was aqullá or aquél meaning ... over there, aquellos those over there, vs. alla, or allí .

someone pointed out that this might not be the correct way to use aquellos.

Is this correct? use of words, and/or translation

Aquellos ojos verdes / Those green eyes
de mirada serena / of calm glance
en cuyas quietas aguas/ in whose quiet waters
un dia me mire / one day watches me
no saben la tristeza / they do not know the sadness
que está en mi alma / that (it is) in my soul
aquellos ojos verdes / those green eyes
que nunca (me) olvidaré / that I will never forget.

*not my original poem, I was only trying to translate it.

I love this song singed by Nat King Cole (the writer it's Antonio Machin)

Aquellos ojos verdes - Antonio Machín

Fueron tus ojos los que me dieron
el tema dulce de mi canción
Tus ojos verdes claros serenos
ojos que han sido mi inspiración.

Aquellos ojos verdes de mirada serena
Dejaron en mi alma eterna sed de amar
Anhelos de caricias de besos y ternuras
de todas las dulzuras que sabían brindar.

Aquellos ojos verdes serenos como un lago
en cuyas quietas aguas un día me miré.
No saben la tristeza que en mi alma han dejado
aquellos ojos verdes que yo nunca olvidaré.
/Those green eyes calm like a lake
in whose quiet waters I one day watched myself
You do not know the sadness that in my soul left
those green eyes that I will never forget./

I will try to translate it tomorrow

I love this song sung by Nat King Cole (the writer it's Antonio Machin) By Antonio Machin or Written by ... or it's author is...

*****

Here is my translation to English.

Those Green Eyes

Those were your eyes that gave me
the sweet subject of my song.
Your clear, calm, green eyes,
eyes that have been my inspiration.

The calm glance of those green eyes,
they let in my eternal soul thirst love,
yearnings of caresses, of kisses and tenderness;
of all the sweetness known to offer.

Those calm green eyes,
like a lake in whose quiet waters
one day I watched (saw) myself.
They do not know the sadness
they *(that it) left in my soul,
those green eyes that I never will forget.

****
* que en mi alma han dejado / -that in my soul has left . Subject of the sentence here is sadness Sadness that it (seeing myself in your eyes) left in my soul. This idea is said better in the Spanish and doesn't lend itself well to translation. Best said in English is They (those green eyes) do not know the sadness they left in my soul.

Amaría oír la música a esto. Es una lírica encantadora muy amoroso.

Your translation is accurate.

Nat "King" Cole sung some spanish songs, in a calm, lovely way.
