¿Alguien tiene alguna idea de cómo se dice "watermark" en castellano?
It is a security feature in credit cards, checks, money orders, travelers cheques, etc. marca contra falsificación--- tantas palabras, ¿no? marca de seguridad-- suena muy literal, anglicismo yakkk! ¿Me pueden dar alguna idea? |

Correcto. Comúnmente conocido como sello de agua. Siempre lo he conocido como tal.

Marca de agua o sello de agua.
Aquí se usa en billetes y algunos documentos oficiales, como prueba de autenticidad. "Filigrana" lo conozco sólo en cierto trabajo de joyería.

Ahora que recuerdo, Perickles, he visto "filigrana" en glosarios. Pero como a Angélica, me suena a joyas o al Taj Mahal (que tiene muchísimo trabajo de filigrana, que no se vé en las fotos). Chileno, "sello de agua" me suena elegante. |

Así es, Moliner (y también DRAE) nos da,
filigrana (del it. «filigrana») 1 f. Trabajo de orfebrería en que el oro o la plata forman un dibujo semejante a un encaje. Joya, platero. 2 Cosa fina y delicadamente trabajada o hecha con gran habilidad. Afiligranado. 3 Marca de fábrica en el papel, que se ve por transparencia. Dibujo que se ve por transparencia en los billetes de banco.

No obstante, yo como Angélica usaría "marca de agua". El término filigrana para los billetes se usa sólo en las web técnicas, el uso normal es para trabajos finos de joyería, como indica Jpablo

De ahí la expresión "hacer filigranas" cuando tienes que hacer un trabajo muy elaborado, como para que te llegue el sueldo a final de mes. JEJJEJE
