Creo que mi comida preferida es la humilde pizza bien hecha. No es fácil encontrar una buena pizza napólitana, pero la búsqueda vale la pena.

Es verdad, la pizza muy neoyorquina, pero lamentablamente hay pocos sitios aquí en que se encuentra la pizza perfectaSin embargo casi todas las pizzerías y restaurantes con pizza en el menú produce mejores pizzas que se vende en Pizza Hut o Dominos.

I know he's responding. I'll let him tell you.
Some dictionaries don't list it (and it's spelled lamentablemente, by the way). There are synonyms that could be used instead.

It means lamentably. You probably know this, but if you don't, one of the good things about studying Spanish is the similarity in vocabulary that the two languages share. There are pitfalls though, because false cognates which are words that appear the same but do not share the same meaning are very common. If you study the false cognates, you may find they have the same roots in Latin but with meanings that have diverged over the centuries. It's a very good idea to study false cognates.

A lot of the words that translate directly from Spanish to English are
high-toned multisyllabic words. Studying Spanish is paradoxically a good
way of improving English vocabulary.

Got it. Study the false cognates.

BUT ... I figured that it means lamentably. Unfortunately, that then means that I don't understand the rest of the sentence because it doesn't make sense to me. It sounds like he's saying that "lamentably, there are few restaurants that have the perfect pizza", and then he says "nevertheless, almost all the pizzerias and restaurants with pizza on the menu have better pizza than is sold at Pizza Hut or Dominos." Is that right? So he's lamenting the fact that there is no perfect pizza? Aren't our expectations a little high?

Also I like the pizza made of the Comerzial Mexicana.

The word lamentable could mean sundry things above your questions, the I recommend, if you can surf at the internet and find the meaning of the word is better than supposed the contrary.

Chinese Food

Hey, Jessica,

If you have any recipes (easy), I would love to try them! I love Chinese food. I have been watching movies in Chinese with my daughter who is studying it (Eat Man, Drink Woman and Mulan). It's fun that she is so excited about learning it and the culture.
