It looks like you're supposed to choose between necesito and tengo que. None of the answers are correct, not even the example.

The example still doesn't make any sense.
Answer the following questions: What does tengo que mean? What does necesito mean? What does para + infinitive mean? Does it make sense to follow necesito with tengo que? Does it make sense to follow necesito with para? |

jchen, speaking from my history of doing the opposite, I would recommend writing your answers in complete sentences to start. By that I mean sentences that completely answer what is being asked.

It sounds like your teacher may want you to replace Necesito with one of the other options.
Voy a la librería para comprar lápices. o Voy a la librería porque tengo que comprar lápices. Did she give you any other instructions? |

Concerning the example, if it were rewritten like this, it would work: (Where you choose one of "necesito", "para", or "tengo que").
¿Por qué vas a la librería? (Necesito/Para/Tengo que) __________ comprar lápices.

Yep, I wholeheartedly agree with David, and was thinking the same thing. The example is not correct. Use David's rewritten example and you'll find this exercise a lot easier.
tengo que + infinitive = I have to ... necesito + infinitive = I need to ... para + infinitive = in order to ... Edit: I just noticed that you changed the original post once again. There's a mistake in c. Other than that mistake and the fact that you never used para, the answers you gave are good. Last edited by Rusty; December 15, 2008 at 04:23 PM. |
