I think it may be more of where someone is from. A couple people... Puerto Ricans.... said that the phrase I put up is common.

It depends on what you want to say:

Hacía mucho (tiempo) que no te veía. => It's been a long time you didn't see that person and now you're meeting face to face.

Hace mucho (tiempo) que no te veo. => You still haven't seen that person. Like when you write an e-mail message or a letter.

Ok, let's sort this out.

I haven't seen you in a long time.= No te he visto en un largo tiempo (mucho tiempo)

Hacía mucho (tiempo) que no te veía. = Long time that I did not see you.

Hace mucho (tiempo) que no te veo = Long time that I do not see you.

You still haven't seen that person = Todavía no has visto a esa persona.

It's been a long time since you saw the person.... Ha sido largo/mucho tiempo desde que viste a la persona.

Ok, now which phrase is correct? And of those that are correct, which is the one that corresponds with the question?

No te he visto en un largo tiempo: I have not seen you for a long time.
Hacía mucho (tiempo) que no te veía. - ditto -
Hace mucho (tiempo) que no te veo - ditto -

What was the original question ?

I said it correct then for how I wanted to. I was using it meeting with the person face to face.

In my own opinion about your question, I would saying, Hace mucho tiempo que no te veo.

But in your sentence can has a lot ways to say the same.
