depurar (verb) — to debug, purge, purify, cleanse. Look up depurar in the dictionary

La primavera es un buen momento para depurar el organismo con un cambio de dieta.

I have always used purifcar. Depurar is a new word for me.
You can definitely say el agua está purificado y se lo puede tomar sin riesco.

I don't think "depurar" is a widely used word for purify.....
