Quote from Luis here.
>>> Es un adjetivo gentilicio se refiere a una persona nacida en Panama. I'm wondering exactly what gentilicio means. The dictioanry here translates it as national, gentile, tribal & hereditary. But how & when exactly is it used. I've never heard it before. If anyone can help out that would be great. Also , does it come from the word gente?

gentilicio & gente comes from latin: gens
Gentilicio it's a word who explains the name of the people of a place/country/city Madrileño/a es el gentilicio de Madrid Barcelonés/a es el gentilicio de Barcelona Panameño/a es el gentilicio de Panamá Mexicano/a es el gentilicio de México. To know the proper "gentilicio" of a place it's not very easy. More info: wikipedia gentilicio List (Name) (Place) Saludos ![]() Last edited by sosia; October 29, 2007 at 03:49 AM. |
