Soñar con
La mañana de la llegada del buque a La Habana había una escena extraordinaria. Miles de cubanos estaban alineados a lo largo del muelle, llenos de alegría, haciendo que todos se sintieran bienvenidos en su país. “Fue una experiencia única en la vida (con) la que había soñado durante muchos años” recordó Pérez con lágrimas en los ojos.
In the above paragraph, is the word ‘con’ necessary? Is the sentence grammatically incorrect if we leave it out? The first sentence also sounds a little off to me. Is it missing something? Many thanks in advance. |

The usage of 'con' is correct with 'soñar'.
soñar con = to dream about |

I agree with Rusty. I will just add that "soñar con algo" is to wish that something will come true, and "soñar algo" means to have dreamt something while sleeping.
