Uvular trill in Spanish?

Oh yes, they do. Especially the French in my opinion. They also have problems pronouncing the Spanish "J".
I think the French 'r' is pretty close to the Spanish 'j'.

Not really, the French "r" is voiced whereas the Spanish "j" is voiceless. But you'd think that the French could just try to pronounce their "r" without making a sound and that way they would be able to pronounce the Spanish "j". Apparently they haven't thought of that.. :D

It depends on the man.. Just imagine a fat, short man with big glasses, long dirty hair, a few teeth missing and smelling of..... garlic...with a spectacular French accent.. :D

Ha ha.. My imagination played a little role here, but I've actually seen that person or someone very similar, believe me.. yuck. The only difference is, he didn't have a lovely French accent:D.. he had a horrible Italian accent.

I'm not saying Italian accent is bad, I love the Italian language:love:. But the way this person spoke English was almost offensive :sad:

r tends to be voiced and the Spanish j isn't, but they're related like the English d and the English t.

That's interesting, because I would have said her voice was more or less typical for French people I have met. I wonder whether this is an issue of dialect. I shall have to consult my daughter-in-law: she speaks rather like that, so maybe I'm biased.

Yeah, but then you'd have to get everything else right about the accent, otherwise the person would still sound like they were from the US, and not like they were from Costa Rica. Anyway, one use of the uvular r, is if you can fake a French accent in general on your Spanish, and if you go somewhere when they automatically switch to English upon hearing that the person is an Anglophone, being able to fake a French accent on Spanish would be quite useful, as you could pretend you were from Québec or France and couldn't speak any English, so they'd have to communicate with you only in Spanish.
