I just want to confirm this definition I found in Urban Dictionary -you never know what you get there-:
"When a criminal suspect is shown, usually in handcuffs, being arrested and led to their booking. Often done for the purpose of embarassing or humiliating the defendant, but not always."
It seems to fit the context where I heard it.
[btw, "arresto televisivo" would be a good match]

I don't usually think about it being "for the purpose of embarassing" but for the safety of the police and to prevent escape. Sometimes these people have been arrested multiple times and its a way of life for them. They are sorry they got caught but not necessarily embarassed.
Using cuffs is the standard procedure where I live and most of the arrests are not available on TV or seen by the general public.
Being placed in handcuffs would definitely be embarassing to most people because of the act itself.

Thank you!

Then, you are suggesting that a "perp walk" is any situation involving law enforcement officers moving a handcuffed person -suspect or "the perp"-, be it secluded, anonymous or in front of the media

I am not female but sometimes I change my mind :).
Rereading your first post, I now agree with your definition.
You asked one question and I answered another one.
I answered that handcuffs are not primarily for embarassment. (Not your question).
Perp walk is used for "show" and for big time crimes. It is something that happens in very large cities as New York City, Chicago or Miami.
Very seldom is this done in other parts of the country and the term would not be known by most of the population.

Thank you! I was worried.
I borrowed that definition from an on-line dictionary. In my personal point of view those "arrestos cinematográficos" are made to show that the authorities are doing something.
