I was wondering how accurate the google translator works?? Cause i have been using it to define my words, phrases and sentences.

It seems to contridict itself, like when i type "about" it tells me sobre, but when i type sobre into english it says "on".


I was translating: "I'm guessing right about now" from Eng to Span, which is a line from a movie i translating

I translated it to " Supongo derecha sobre ahora"

Google Translates it: "Supongo que seguirán en este instante"


What i want to know is, do words change depending on how you use them, like in different sentences when there next to certain words?


It just seems that when two words make a phrase, the two or three become one word? Or does "About" have different spellings when being used in other kinds of sentences, like if it becomes a preposition.

Online translators, despite the fact that most try to adapt the meaning of words to contexts, are hardly accurate, because they can't discriminate situations and uses needed for each sentence. If your native language is English, perhaps you have noted that words hardly ever have only one meaning, so you can't expect this to happen in any other language. Prepositions will always have many different meanings, as they're hardly used the same way in different languages, according to circumstances, phrasal verbs, cultural uses, etc.

Even a person using bilingual dictionary, if they "translate" with the first definition of each word, the result will bring even more nonsensical sentences in whatever language it's tried.

I can't understand what your English sentence could mean (it looks fragmentary to me), so I cannot help you or give you any hint on how to say that in Spanish. :thinking: Maybe some English native speaker can have a better guess.
Still, I can say that "Supongo derecha sobre ahora", makes no sense at all.

That was kind of a hard one, using "I guess" at the beginning of the sentence.


I did notice on Google Translator that on some words they show other possibilities of that word.
How most english words are both nouns and verbs, and prepositions.


I don't know how well this method words, but i was trying translate words to a movie. Cause i thought the subtitles would teach regular conversation.

I will just work on it some more, i will probably slow down and work on words before i get into sentence structures.

Your translations will not be accurate, no matter what, if you rely on a machine to do the translation.
You should hire the translation out, paying the price to get an accurate translation.

It's funny to discover what awful things the Google translator can do:

Dábale arroz a la zorra el abad.
Google translation into English: rice gave him the fox Abbot.
Google translation of the last sentence into Spanish: arroz le dio el abad zorro.
Again to English: the abbot gave rice fox.
Again to Spanish: el abad le dio arroz zorro.
Now it gets stable.
