English?
Ejemplo:
En un roleplay los alumnos se meten tan de lleno en el papel que parece que la situación es real.

There are probably several ways to express this. One possibility is "to immerse oneself in the role".

What about, "To play one's part for real"?
"To play one's part fully assuming one's role"?
Would these be valid?
I am just giving my 2 cents here... (Natives, correct me if I am wrong!)
"...The pupils get so intensely into their roles that the situation seems to be real..." (or seems for real...)
Would that work in English?

Honestly the best way of saying this is the way wrholt suggested, and I will expand upon: The students immerse themselves so deeply in their roles that it seems to be real.
As you know, in language, there are many ways of skinning a cat, and your choice works too.

If it's not too late for another option, how about "to really get into the role?"

Nunca es tarde si la dicha es buena.
And better later than never...
