How would I say, "I owe more than my home is worth"? Here is my attempt.

Debo mas que el valor de mi casa.

I am hearing a lot on the news about mortgages and loans so I wanted to be able to say these things in Spanish

Another question is how to throw the word "préstamo" into the mix.

El préstamo de mi casa es mayor del valor.

Thanks everyone!!!

Debo más que el valor de mi casa. :good:
This is a good sentence, but perhaps it would sound more "native-speaker" to say: "debo más de lo que vale mi casa". :)

El préstamo de mi casa es mayor del que su valor.
"Préstamo" is fine, but a mortgage is a special kind of loan, so we may prefer "la hipoteca de la casa es mayor que su valor". "Su" takes you straight to the house, so there is no ambiguity of meaning.
Or, to use your first sentence: "debo más por la hipoteca que lo que vale mi/la casa". :)

By the way, for more on the difference between "más de" and "más qué", I hope you'll find this discussion (http://forums.tomisimo.org/showthread.php?t=8779) useful.

Thank you so much! The "su" makes sense now that I see it. Sometimes I double check with Google Translate for vocabulary, but it was weird so I went with what I put. I remember asking someone at work for a favor, and I was told that "I owe you" could be written as, "Te debo". I just wanted to make sure the word still transferred ok into this scenario as well. Thanks again!:)
