Qué significa estar al rojo vivo?I'm not sure I could translate it into English. I'll try an explanation and maybe you can say the English word for it.
Something is al rojo vivo when it's really exciting, or a lot of things are happening at the same time, or it's really interesting, or it has suddenly come to the forefront... Summing up: when a lot of activities make something to get as hot as red/white metal (when it's warmed up in the forge).

Se puede decir que una persona está al rojo vivo o se usa solo por describir situaciones o cosas?Se usa para situaciones. Referido a una persona resultaría raro.

El partido está al rojo vivo. Empatan, sólo quedan cinco minutos y los dos equipos se están dejando la piel en el campo.
La reunión está al rojo vivo. Se puede mascar la tensión en el aire.
