"Rock" nowadays has been devalued to apply to just about any pop music. For a group whose work includes tracks you could actually dance rock-and-roll to, I recommend Los Rebeldes.

Juana Molina - Argentinian psychedelic/folk rock singer. Her album Segundo is absolutely brilliant whether you want to learn Spanish or not. Track. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdaiBhqjiQs)

Amparanoia - Lots of clarity and very catchy, I'd describe her sound as quintessentially Spanish. I recommend Seguire Caminando, she sings mostly in Spanish but repeats certain things in English, great for learning. Track. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orJitdQTeg8)

Shakira - An obvious one but her music is very catchy. I'm not her biggest fan by any means but pop music is designed to be passively consumed and as easily absorbed and unthreatening as possible right? Cos that allows it to reach the widest possible audience? Therefore whether you like pop music or not I think it's great for language learning as it will stick in your head, which is surely good? I don't know of your Mala Sangre, but it's unbelievable that no-one here has mentioned Cypress Hill before.
They made some metal LPs, go and see whether they also had Spanish metal songs on it. They definately did Spanish songs on their hip hop LPs.

Don't know if you'll like them (they're really hit and miss- either you love or hate them), but a local band I really like is Caramelos de Cianuro (only their older albums, though).
Two other local bands that I've heard good things about (but don't like myself) are Viniloversus and La Vida Bohème

Songs consist of meter and rhyming stanzas (many do, anyway). That alone makes songs an unrealistic source of sentences that you can readily use (we don't normally speak in rhyme and our sentences don't usually contain the same amount of syllables). Because the lyrics fit the meter of the song, translations into other languages will seldom produce a song with the same meaning. In English, we have many one-syllable words. That means we can generally pack about 5 to 6 words into a stanza. That isn't possible in Spanish, which has many words with two or more syllables each.

This particular band does a good job, trying hard to keep the same meaning across translation. That's why there are more syllables in this version than there are in the English version.
It's nice that the lyrics are displayed as it goes along, and that they are spelled correctly! That is rare.

The song will help you with ear training. To understand what is being said, you'll need to learn a lot of vocabulary, verb conjugation and grammar. But that's your goal, right?

There's at least one error in the lyrics, by the way, and it's repeated more than once. See if you can catch it as you study the lyrics while listening intently.
