"La profesora recoge a un niño tras otro y los lleva a la piscina, agarra sus manos mientras mueven las piernas". (Hay mejores alternativas)

He buscado en un diccionario y pone "pasearse por las tiendas" "to wander around the shops"

Lo has cambiado a "deambular" ¿se puede usar los dos o el primero no está bien dicho?
¿Hay una manera para decir lo mismo pero mas coloquia? Nunca he oido "deambular"

En general si quiero decir "by the time" se traduce a "Para cuando hube"

Porque en ingles se dice "by the time" a lot " By time the I had gone to the bank and hairdressers it was really late" o
"By the time he had picked up the children it was dark" o "By the time I go to the library and the hairdressers I won't have time to go shopping"

No entiendo "Para cuando hube" porque la palabra "hube" significa "there was"

Sí, "pasearse por las tiendas" es correcto (debería haberlo puesto en negro). Ocurre que "pasearse" tiene un significado muy amplio para mi gusto y me parecía mejor elección un verbo más exacto. A menudo, los diccionarios bilingües muestran una traducción medianamente acertada con el fin de evitar así el empleo de un vocabulario demasiado apabullante para un no nativo.

El verbo "deambular" no es raro, es decir, no es de esos verbos que uno vaya utilizando a todas horas; pero resulta completamente natural en el lenguaje medio y escrito a nivel internacional.
