"Marcarle a alguien", as a synonym of "llamar a alguien" might be only Mexican usage. That's what "marcar el número (telefónico) de alguien" have become. :D

Una manera cuasiliteral y correcta de traducir "expecting" es "expectante". A veces, conviene conocer estas equivalencias para entender mejor el porqué de las cosas. En literatura podría aparecer:

No estaba expectante de que fueras a hacer todo eso. Pensaba que si no aceptaban el pago ibas a telefonearme.

Correcto, aunque es difícil para un estudiate inglés porque querrá traducirlo así donde vea "expect, expecting, expectant, siempre. :)
