How can I translate " os guardo la nota para setiembre" used when a student passes part of an exam and has to take the failed part again:

A search seems to indicate (https://www.google.com/search?q=guardar+%22la+nota+para+septiembre%22) this is something specific to the educational system in Spain. A translation would need to contain some sort of explanation. I'll take a stab at a translation:

"Your progress will be saved, and you can finish the exam in September."

The parts of the exam you passed will be saved and in september you take the ones you failed again. ?

How about:

The parts of the exam that you passed will be saved, and in September you can re-take the parts that you failed.
