Como traducir siguiente frase: "Cuando regreses tendremos que hacer un buen tiempo para que hablemos"? El autor es mexicano.

I have no clue what "hacer un buen tiempo" means in this situation. I thought it usually refers to sports, but in this case it doesn't make any sense.

I believe the person here is saying that they'll need to set/make (calendar in) some time that is mutually agreeable (a good time for both parties) for catching up when the other returns.
You're right that the sporting phrase 'make/get a good time' (timed event) doesn't seem to fit, but this person has put the phrase to another use.

Tendremos que hacer un buen espacio de tiempo - diría yo en mi español que no es de la variante mexicana, aunque viví allí un par de años.

I agree with Rusty. The person is saying both persons must pause their schedule, no matter what their many activities are. That should be also enough time for them not to feel pressed ("un buen tiempo" implies the meeting should be long).
