I think perder el norte means getting lost. ( losing track of the north star)
but I am not sure. Has anyone heard of the phrase before?
Approximate Quote: Simplemente recrear en el siglo 21 lo que existía en la decada de los 30 seria perder el norte.

The phrase means to lose one's bearings or to be at a loss (about what to do).

I think these would all be synonyms: perder el norte, desorientarse, desubicarse, nortearse.

Agree with all.
In your example, it means getting lost, but in a philosophic way (to recreate in the 21 century the 30 years epoche is to be at a loss)
saludos :D
