I was watching an episode of "Preguntas Fáciles" on Youtube tonight, and I can't figure out what the announcer, Tomi Munaretto, is saying at minute 4:50. He says something like:

Voy a ???????? un minuto, gente. Voy a ???????? los apuntes, as he looks through the contestant's notes.

What is the word I can't understand? Is he saying "chusmear"?

Yes, he uses chusmear. It comes from chusma —vulgar people seen as a set— which is used in part of South America meaning "nosy busybody". As a verb it means to pry, oftenly having gossip as a goal.

When declared openly, as in the video, it is slang for curiosear —take a glance, wander around, snoop or sometimes rummage—.

Thank you, aleCcowaN.

I am familiar with the word "chusma" when meaning riffraff/a lowlife. In the Mexican comedy series "El Chavo del Ocho," Doña Florinda frequently said to her son, "No te juntes con esa chusma," so I picked that word up from there, but I had no idea chusma could be made into a verb; therefore, I wasn't sure what word Tomi was actually saying.

Thank you. This clears it up for me.
