Does anyone know what "Barenca" means? As in "canoa de barenca". I am teaching my 2nd and 3rd grade Spanish class to sing "El Pescador" by Jose Barros of Colombia.
¡Gracias!

I spoke to a Colombian friend who informed me that una canoa de barenca
or canoa de barenque is a canoe not made completely of wood. A conoe not made with the material that better boats are made of.

Based on poli's information, a translation might be "cheap canoe".
