como se diría en inglés " por ahí van los tiros" cuando alguien se aproxima a algo, por ejemplo en un acertijo, y lo que dice no está muy desencaminado.

You're on the right track.
You've almost/nearly got it.
You're nearly there.
You're close.
That's about/nearly/more or less right.

You're on the right track.

Gracias, Ambarina. Y ¿cómo se diría los tiros no van por ahí en inglés?
Me imagino que sería algo como lo siguiente.

You're on the wrong track. (You've got it all wrong.)
That's not what I said at all.
Hello! Earth to (provide person's name here).

You can also say: "You're getting warm/hot".

I have other opinion about it.

It'd rather to be (For there goes the problem)

I have another opinion about it.

It should be 'for there goes the problem'.Crotalito, the original post is asking for an English equivalent del modismo 'por ahí van los tiros'. Several equivalent phrases have already been offered.

What you wrote is not an equivalent expression, nor is it a good English translation of the phrase.
por ahí = there
van = go
los tiros = the shots
