Can you give me an example of what it means and how you would use it in a sentence? I don't recall having heard this phrase before. A bit of research shows that it doesn't literally mean "without shame or glory". The main meaning I found was more like unimportant, unnoticed, completely normal, average etc.
La obra de teatro pasó por los escenarios sin pena ni gloria.
The play was incredibly average.
La película pasará a la historia sin pena ni gloria.
It was a completely forgettable movie.

Excellent examples, also for books or entertainment shows.

That´s a differente one. No dar ni frío ni calor, no hacer ni fu ni fa, when something is indifferent to you. Is there a saying in English?
