Sí. Una traducción un poco más acertada sería: "He was waiting for the end to come".

It depends on the context; he could be expecting the end of a situation or wait for the end of his agony --either death or a happier ending to suffering. :)

For me the context is always important.
He was waiting to die, his was waiting for his own end to come
The shopper agreed no to ask for new item while he was waiting for the end to come.
Has no real pain, only a delayed status.
You can use the same sentence and the same Tomisimo's good translation, but the context is always good to know.
saludos :D

"Un consejo" ;)
A question: wouldn't it be I wished the end would come?
Or even: I wished the end to come

Then my example doesn't has an equivalent.

I was the end come to me.
I'd add a comma, in that way: I was the end, come to me.
And I could translate it as: Yo era el fin, ven a mí ;)
(qué miedo...) :D

"I wished the end to come" is correct?

"I wished the end to come" is correct?
I would never, ever, say it. (Y soy americano).

It sounded very apocalyptic.
Thanks.
