I run into this expression while reading but I don´t understand the slings and arrows thing. Can anybody help?

this is from probably the most famous speech in Shakespeare - Hamlet's soliloquy on whether life is worth living. The metaphor is that bad news in life is equivalent to arrows (flechas) and slings (hondas) being fired at you. Outrageous fortune = bad luck (mala suerte)
i.e. las adversidades de la vida
