shortcoming could also be replaced with defect, mistake, error, etc.

shortcoming could also be replaced with defect, mistake, error, etc.I don't want to be picky, but shortcoming isn't quite the same as error, at least not for me. Fallo = fault or error, but in the context of Tu mayor fallo es que te crees que siempre llevas la razón, fallo = fault or shortcoming,

Fault / shortcoming / weakness / defect - all suggest a continuous state of being, whereas mistake is an instantaneous thing, thus incorrect above.

In a different context, Tu mayor fallo could be your biggest mistake

Your biggest mistake was marrying that woman.

Perhaps I am overreading the difference. :thinking:
