hi, i'm reading a spanish book, and the guy is in the army and he says:

y me pongo a reparar la cadena de mi aguja artillera

what does he repair?

I'm not really sure,
Literally as "cannon needle", but I think he refers to a "rascador", a tool wich was uset to clean the barrel from the outside.

an old version was simple a needle with a chain, like when cleaning a chimney

I thought it might mean repariing the pin on a military brooch/epulet/medallion.
