Hi,

I am working through a spanish exercise book and need help with a question. It asks you to translate the sentence:

"I like yellow lemonade when we study"

and the answer it gives in the back of the book is "Me gusta la limonada amarilla cuando nosotros estudiamos"

My question is why is there the la before limonada, wouldn't that make the sentence "I like THE yellow lemonade when we study" ?

Thank you

Very common to see the articles "el", "la", "los", "las" before nouns in Spanish,
where more often do not appear in English.

The article is often used in Spanish where we wouldn't use it in English. It is required for the subject, even if it's a generic subject, and lemonade is the subject in the sentence you gave.
While we're on the subject, if the subject in that kind of sentence is the infinitive, like 'Me gusta estudiar,' no article is used. This is because the Spanish infinitive also doubles as the equivalent of the English gerund, and it takes no article.

Most speakers, by the way, would omit the 'nosotros' from the sentence you posted.
