Perder el hilo

¿Alguien tiene idea de como se dice cuando "perdes el hilo" por ejemplo, de una conversación?

to lose one's train of thought
to lose track of what one is saying | to lose track of what someone else is saying

I agree,
perder el hilo (de la conversación) = to lose the thread (of the conversation)

And also,
recoger el hilo de la historia = to pick up the thread of the story

Sometimes in Spanish we don't even need "el hilo"
me distraje un momento y me perdí = my attention wandered for a moment and I lost the thread
