I wouldn't have known you posted this if I didn't check profile comments regularly. If you post your comment on my profile page, I'll be notified. (Establish that connection by using the 'Reply' link, if there is one, or the 'View Public Conversation' link.)
There are thousands of people who speak Spanish pretty fluently in your city. Would you like to meet with any of them? Some speak Spanish natively. Some of them can explain the grammar. Others learned Spanish as a second language but could teach it to you.
There are a couple of members who have Skype accounts. You can check member's Contact Info to find them. The icon also appears when a user replies to a thread, if they have Skype.
So. . . Any tips on how to give myself a crash course in Spanish over the next 5ish months? Bear in mind that, while I'm familiar with some of the very basics of the language--the masculine/feminine dichotomy, the concept of verb conjugation, a handful of vocabulary words--I'm still very much a beginner. I could not, say, sit down and hold any sort of conversation with a native speaker without getting lost almost immediately.
I find that one of the biggest things I lack is anyone to hold voice conversations with. Do you know of any resources on the Internet that would help with this? Maybe Skype groups dedicated to Spanish learners or something of the like?
Yeah, the restriction goes away after awhile. You can always write to me using a profile comment. Other members can see what you write, though. As I said before, I can delete what you don't want others to read.
You haven't been in the forums long enough to send more than 1 private message a day, so I'll write you here. I can remove what you don't want others to see.
Just click on the Reply link to respond what you were going to say in the PM, and I'll continue to talk to you for awhile.
