In Chinese, there are two common "Yang" surnames.
羊 yáng Literally: Goat 杨 yáng Poplar They are both pronounced the same, though. And in Chinese, if you are just telling your last name you would say: 我姓__ wǒ xìng ___ How many generations are you removed from your Chinese ancestors? Would your parents recognize the character you showed them? I believe 杨 is more common than 羊. |
yep you use "wo xing" :P
|
nobody of my family know any chinese character 。 ancestors lived perhaps over there but my family and I speak spanish 。 yes I know some families live in another town and they can speak chinese but me nothing。I interesting in learn
chinese due to my names lol |
Ok, well then we'll never know which one your last name is, haha. But it's no problem. As long as you don't have to write it, they are pronounced the same in Chinese.

I‘m thinking it was hard to understand my post, right?:( but thanks for understand it!! |
chanman both dan shi and ke shi mean "but, however", right? Is there a difference.... :P I have to ask my mom to refresh my memory but anyhow you can tell everyone else what the difference is and provide the characters and tones :P
thank you :P EDIT: there isn't really a difference. instead of this, can you tell me the difference between zhong wen and han yu? My mom told me but I don't quite get it. |
但是、可是
dàn shì\ kě shì But, however. 可是 (kě shì) is used slightly more in the sense of "I would like to... but..." etc and that kind of connotation, but both are interchangeable nonetheless. I, actually, am not that clear on the difference between 中文 (zhōng wén) and 汉语 (hàn yǔ) either. 汉语 is more historical, I guess, and might mean any Chinese dialect? I would hazard a guess at that. [Note: Be sure you do not say hán yǔ, because that is 韩语... Korean]. |
