Fazor March 17, 2009 01:18 PM

No problemo; poli dijo 'topopos' tambien.

poli March 17, 2009 01:23 PM

I've never seen it written. I heard it wrong. :idea:It's totopos. Basically it's corn chips.

D'oh! Gracias. I should have known to use ser, as I specifically told myself to. I guess I don't listen to my own brain. And I should have known to add "los" to the end of encontrar, as I was looking over that rule earlier today. I never claimed that I was a quick learner though. :)

You're welcome.

You only must remember the correct words when you are writing in the post.:impatient:

Tomisimo March 17, 2009 09:16 PM

I'd translate totopos as corn chips. The can be triangular or circular.

Rusty March 17, 2009 10:24 PM

I've personally never seen totopos in the U.S. They are described here. Is this an accurate description?
In the U.S., we have corn chips and we have tortilla chips. Both are usually fried (there is a healthy baked version). Frito-Lay makes corn chips. They are described here. Tortilla chips are described here. Besides triangular and circular shapes of different sizes, they also come in a scoop shape. Nachos are made using tortilla chips.

Yes. I agree with you the corn chips are have shape triangular and the tortilla has a shape circular. Then the corn chips is most mentioned as Totopos in my country. I don't know that kind of tortilla is sold in your country. But I can tell you that the tortilla is only tortilla and anymore. Therefore are the tortillas in shape triangular.

I hope can you understand me.

Jessica March 18, 2009 05:25 AM

wait, doesnt tortilla chips have a triangular shape??

Elaina March 18, 2009 10:53 AM

Well here in my part of the woods, tortilla chips in a Mexican restaurant are just tortillas that are cut up in rectangular shapes and deep fried. Served with Pico de Gallo fresco or different types of sauces.

Fritos and others make corn chips which are in no way comparable to tortilla chips from a restaurant.

Tortilla chips are totopos. The others are "munchies". :p

Fazor March 18, 2009 11:03 AM

The description I read made it sound like 'totopos', at least the authentic ones, were thicker and dryer than what we normally call tortilla chips. But it was hard to tell for sure.

Elaina March 18, 2009 11:10 AM

I would say that corn chips are thicker and drier than tortilla chips. Tortilla chips tend to be thinner and with a nice "crunch" to them whereas the corn chips, personally, have a dry crunch.

I guess it is all up to personal perference.

mmmmmmm:applause:

Mi novia y yo fuimos a 'La Fiesta Mexicana' ayer.

Jessica March 25, 2009 05:24 AM

oh I see. :P thanks
