I don't believe it is bad to use colloquialisms necessarily.

They are used everyday by everyone and they remind us that language (as in other things in life) also has a relaxed side to it. Just because you use colloquialisms doesn't mean you can therefore forget proper grammar skills.

Well this was certainly a timely post for me :) . I was just reading about the present and future being interchangeable. So it's more common to use the present instead of the future?

The immediate future is commonly expressed using the present tense.
