Luckily neither my husband nor my dog have been bitten. My husband was driving and my dog could try to catch someone with her mouth, and a bite inside the mouth can be quite dangerous. I've closed my dog and I've taken the hosepipe until the nest and the wasps have disappeared.

I felt so much painful in my arm! But I've remembered that, when I was a child and a wasp bit me, vinegar was put on the bite, so I've run and I've taken a towel with a lot of vinegar in it and I've put it on the bites. Now I'm feeling better, but my right arm is a bit bigger and hotter than my left one, and I still feel the painful, but not so much. Luckily they've not bitten me on my face or in my neck, that would be more dangerous.

Well, so you must remember. If a wasp bites you and there isn't a drugstore near: vinegar. If you are not able to find vinegar, mud is good, too. :)

baking soda

Baking soda is different from baking powder. I think that you have to get it in a pharmacy in Spain, not at the grocery store.
My son got bitten by a hornet on the lip once and his entire face swelled up. His eyes were swollen shut. His lips turned inside out. It was horrible. The doctor said that if it had been on his tongue, he probably would have choked.

It's a pity because of your son! I'm so sorry!

In the mouth and in the neck these bites are really dangerous.

¡Muy mal!:( Yo tambien tengo una alergia, una vez me pincharon el párpado. Mi cara se hinchó y tambien tuve problemas con respirar :worried:

Espero que tu hijo no esté pinchado de nuevo:)

How to avoid them? They only bite if they feel threatened, but in my case, I didn't see the nest. I wouldn't put my hand if I had seen it! In summer you must have your five senses in alert!

Sometimes, I regret the winter ;)

Irmamar........OUCH!:bandaid:

Are you feeling better? Is your arm back to normal size? I hope so. It is no fun being miserable because of an insect bite!

The Royal is aluminium, I did't know it, and as you know it's utilized to do much kind to food.

Then it turn to do bad to health of the people right.:(

Luis, lea los ingedientes primero. Según Irmamar polvo Royal no contiene aluminio en España, pero hay muchas marcas de baking powder que llevan aluminio por lo menos en EE UU.

Thanks Elaina and jchen. My arm is already normal now :D

I hope you'll never be bitten by one of these insects. Maybe one or two bites can be supported, but more than two is a bit hard. And if you are bitten by more than ten, you must go to a doctor. Luckily I'm fine, now, although one bite is still a bit big (in my opinion, of course :) )

My memory is fading. Godddddddddddddddd help !

Rusty June 27, 2009 09:26 AM

We call them home remedies. Some home remedies fall into the category of an "old wives' tale", however (the remedy doesn't work - we just repeat it for ages and ages without mentioning that it most likely won't help).

irmamar June 28, 2009 01:08 PM

Vinegar was OK, it worked :)

Now I'm fighting against them. They want to make their nest in the same place

Tomisimo, wasp stings are alkaline so dabbing (acidic) vinegar on counteracts the irritant; bee stings are acidic so require baking soda (or some other alkali), so for your mother to mix the two was pointless! One would cancel out the other!

I'll have to remember this for the future. I'm not sure why she did that.

Poli. You don't be so strict with me, I assuring you the some kind to food in my country has much kind to ingredients and well, I don't know exactly about that products have aluminium and that others ones hasn't, but unlike of others kind to food that has not aluminium, I know of that the Royal if is to bad for people, really I don't know, but I can assuring you that you have aluminium in your body because it iron is necessary in your blood, the quantity that you have in your body to aluminium, I don't know, I'm not chemical.
