When someone believes he is speaking in English and in fact is mimicking Spanish features using English words, we say he speaks "Brutish English".

I've a couples questions for you.

What does pound means?
What does Brutish means?

In those cases, I was seeking the meanings in the internet, but only I found this meanings for that.

Brutish means Bruto.
Pound libra, golpe.

Are those meanings correct anyway?

Sincerely yours.

Hi crotalito.
I'ts only a joke. You use the literal meaning of an english word in a spanish sentence.

más Brutish English --> Inglés en bruto, Brutánico
When do you pounds? -->translation word to word --> ¿Cuando libras?--> ¿Cuando tienes vacaciones?
I book tomorrow --> Yo libro mañana --> Mañana tengo un día libre.
saludos :D

Sadly, I suddenly understood it in a flash about 24 hours later. Hilarious.

JPablo April 04, 2011 10:56 PM

Wow... I take Spanish speakers would get it faster... although when I first read it... I also pondered for a little bit...

Brutish English has things like,

Monalisa = Monkeyflat (Instead of Mona Lisa)
Telepatía = TV for the aunt (instead of telepathy)
Patológico = Logical duck (instead of Pathological)
Candidato = Dog say datum (instead of candidate)

:confused::banghead::banghead::banghead:

If = Si / Yes = Sí
Between = Entre / Come in = Entre (entrar)

If, if, between = Si, si, entre. :D

Here are some with names,

Estela: She is cloth.

Marcela: Sea jealous.

Zulema: Her slogan.

Norma: Regulation.

Paloma: Pidgeon.

María Rosa: Mary Pink.

Elisa: She is flat.

CrOtALiTo April 05, 2011 07:32 AM

I liked so much the Mary name where is used that name in your country.

Mary pink?

Where?

Elaina April 05, 2011 01:51 PM

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH!

Now I get it! I still have the record....36 hours without "getting it"...qué bruta.

But in my defense, had never heard of Brutish English, Oh, oh, is my stupidity showing?

Some names that I have come across:

Lillian Bloom
Anita Matris
Ralph Di Norcia
Mita Speiser
Ruth Canal
Fay Spitz
Harry Kirshner
Helen Berlin
Iona House

There's more. I just don't recall them at the moment.

aleCcowaN April 05, 2011 04:09 PM

Helen Berlin :D
Ruth Canal :D:D:D

It looks material for Bart's phone calls:

Bart- "I'm looking for a woman. Last name Hogankis, first name Amanda"
Moe- "Hey ... I'm looking for Amanda Hogan'kiss ... hey! .. Amanda Hogankiss"
[Everybody laughing]
Barney- "Your standard is too high, Moe!"

César Noso
Armando Esteban Quito
Elsa Quito
Susana Oria
Benito Cámelo

y todos los oscares:
Oscar A. Melo, Oscar Pintero y Oscar Nívoro

Y lo de los seis hermanos Gerte mejor lo dejamos ...

Son todos clásicos del sexto grado.
