@laepelba: check the Spanish dictionary (for example the Academia one).
Abbreviations "del lat." and "del gr." mean "del latín" and "del griego"... ;)

Muchas palabras que terminen en ma tienen sus raices en griego.

The RAE still scares me. I go there sometimes and sit with my jaw open. I'm not "there" yet. :)

:D Don't be afraid... use the dictionaries and you'll start to understand much more.
And those abbreviations are right at the start of the definition, so it will be easy to find them. ;)

Lo que es mas, laepelba; puedes buscar en ambos, RAE y Webster y veras la similitud de formato.

Acostumbrate a ver el webster, si es que no lo haces ya, y veras que RAE no es tan intimidante. :-)
