What's a monarchs test? Something to do with royalty?

:?::?::confused::thinking:

Tomisimo November 06, 2008 10:18 AM

Probably a test about the different absolute monarchies in the world.

Jessica November 06, 2008 01:09 PM

no no just Europe - and I think I did bad on the essays... :P
the monarchs of the German States, Russia, Spain, and France.

sosia November 06, 2008 11:54 PM

I can give you lots of informations about the spanish absolute monarchie. :D

Planet hopper November 07, 2008 12:07 AM

Jessie,
People your age in Spain would not be learning monarchs from other countries, it is in the books when you are around 16-17-18
You guys have a good education system, better than the spanish one

I'm surprised

Jessica November 07, 2008 02:24 PM

mmmm we just learned about their accomplishments and stuff, that's all...here's the Spanish monarchs that we learned along with others:
Charles V and Philip II
*Philip II was the one who sent the Spanish Armada to intimidate the English and stop a revolt in the Netherlands
He also led the Catholic Reformation

France
Henry IV, Louis XIII and Louis XIV
*Henry IV: Changed from Huquenot >>> Catholic
*important info: new farming methods and tapestry & glass

Louis XIII: focused on trade but eliminated fortified castles
Louis XIV: "I am the state", enlarged army 4 times, canceled the Edict of Nantes, built the Palace of Versailles; New industry and improved fracture

German States
Frederick William, Frederick William I, Frederick II and Maria Theresa
Frederick William was know as the "Great Elector" and developed the Prussian army
Frederick William I doubled the size of the army to 80,000
Frederick II established Prussia as a major power.
Maria Theresa established Austria as a major power.

Russia
Peter the Great and Catherine the Great
Both Peter and Catherine were very smart and focused on Westernizating Russia and promoting education. They also expanded their lands for warm water ports

see? it isn't that much. These are just the major things we had to know for that Monarch test.

Someday I will write without mistakes. :good:

I am improving = estoy mejorando
I have improved = he mejorado

I need to endeavor more (not as common)
I need to push myself more (a bit more common)
I need to try harder (most common)
= necesito esforzarme más

I thought I did REALLY bad on it......

LRW November 10, 2008 05:31 PM

Anytime you think that after a test, unless you truly know you earned poorly, it will mean a good score. This is a fact I've learned the hard way.
