Las vacaciones del invierno

Jessica December 09, 2008 06:26 PM

Las vacaciones del invierno

for the December journal I have to write about las vacaciones del invierno.
I don't know how to begin, and it's due on the 23rd. I want to finish it as soon as I can.

I'm going to try to begin it. I will write it in English and then attempt to translate it into Spanish.

1) a. During winter vacation, we are going to get a new kitchen. My mom already bought a new oven and a new microwave.

b. Durante las vacaciones del invierno, nosotros vamos a obtener una nueva cocina. Mi mamá ya compró una nuevo estufa y un nuevo horno de microondas.

more details to come....

The Spanish looks quite grammatical (except what I've highlighted in red). Good job! :)

What I highlighted in red is what was wrong, not what was right.

Jessica December 09, 2008 07:43 PM

I know that. I changed it.

Jessica, you had one error (David highlighted it in hopes that you would figure out how to make it right) and then you introduced another. Now you have two errors to correct. :)

I suggest you ask lots of questions about what Lee Ying wrote. He provided several ideas for your story (but I hope you do you own homework and not just copy his ideas). :)

Jessica December 10, 2008 05:19 AM

I'm confused :P

Rusty December 10, 2008 07:07 AM

Do you not know what the original error was? The single vowel that was highlighted by David was incorrect. Then you made the same error in another place.

so one of the errors is "nuevo"....I STILL don't understand! Is it supposed to be nueva or nuevo???
We have to use words we learned in the journal. I'm using estufa as oven, not horno, since we learned oven as horno.

CrOtALiTo December 10, 2008 01:27 PM

Yes, Jchen, you are right, oven mean Horno, or Estufa, you are well, in my previous translate, I never use the word Nuevo, but you can use the word Nuevo.

I will be traveling today, I'm going to Villahermosa Tabasco, tonight I will enter to my dear website TOMISIMO.

Take care much my friends.

Jessica December 10, 2008 01:34 PM

Villahermosa Tabasco? where is that?

Nuevo is an adjective. Adjectives agree in gender and number with the noun they modify. Have a look at your sentence and see if that adjective is correct in each case. :)

Durante las vacaciones del invierno, nosotros vamos a obtener una nueva cocina. Mi mamá ya compró una nueva estufa y un nuevo horno de microondas

Any mistakes now?

Rusty December 10, 2008 03:21 PM

Good job. Put a period at the end of the second sentence and you're good to go.

Jessica December 10, 2008 03:27 PM

oh oops forgot a period! okay thanks :)
I can't believe I actually didn't see those errors :P

Rusty December 10, 2008 03:34 PM

You're welcome. Sometimes it takes more than your own set of eyes to see something.

CrOtALiTo December 10, 2008 07:48 PM

Jchen, I'm surprise with your job, the you have made well all your sentence, please you keep it up studying Spanish.

Jessica December 10, 2008 07:51 PM
