Sientáte y agarráte a la silla/al sofá etc...

Cuando tenemos que hacer a alguien participe de una mala noticia, le decimos sientáte y agarráte a la silla. Existe en inglés alguna frase o modismo similar?

Sit down and hold on tight would only be used if the news is very good ..... you have won the lottery. Otherwise it is too flippant. Sit down and prepare yourself perhaps. :thinking:

If it's bad news, we say, "Better sit down," or "Are you sitting down?"
