I'm not sure about the correct translation of this sentence:

He sido testigo de los cambios que ha habido en mi Comunidad durante los últimos años.

I have been (a?) witness of the changes that have been in my region during the last years / for the last years.

That is how I would say it in English. I'm not sure if it works as a direct translation though.

I have been a witness to the changes... would also work.
