Pasa de castaño oscuro
 From context, I think it means things are going from bad to worse, but
I'm not sure. |
castaño2 masculino
A (Botánica) chestnut tree B (color) chestnut; pasarse de castaño oscuro (familiar) «comentario» to be out of line (familiar); «situación» to be beyond a joke; esto ya se está pasando de castaño oscuro this is going too far, this is beyond a joke |
Thanks .That makes good sense in context too. In American English to cross the line is often used.

Pronominal use of "pasar" -> "pasarse" is necessary here.
I agree with Perikles' dictionary. It's used to say that a situation has gone too far, or that it is much more than what can be tolerated. |
De dónde sacas todas esas expresiones tan castellanas y tan bonitas?
Qué muchos jóvenes no saben usar. |
La mayoría encuentro en los comentarios de los periódicos principalmente
El País y El Mundo pero ABC tambien aunque los comentarios de ABC pueden ser groseros por el rencor de sus lectores. |
