Do you know what the exam consists of, don´t you?
Do you know what the exam is about?

Are these questions correct?
Better ideas?

With the one correction, both are correct questions. The latter is more commonplace.

etc.

Your first version is more about the format. The 2nd one is more general. It is common to simply ask:
What is the format of the exam?

You will answer hear: "What's on the exam?"
