Puedo que hablar/He de hablar

Puedo que hablar/He de hablar

I learned "Puedo que hablar" for I have to speak...
In the conjugation for Haber it has
"He de hablar"

I suspect either is OK but which would really be used in everyday speech?

I've been "learning" Spanish for a long time and still get confused easily. I'm doing Rosetta Stone now and hope to spend a few months at schools in Guatemala, Ecuador or possibly both and other countries as well.

I'm an "old guy" and determined to learn Spanish before they put me 6 feet under.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome, Bob!

It's "tengo que hablar" the common way to say it.

"Puedo que hablar:bad:" is "agramatical" (that is, it doesn't make sense as a sentence when a native parses it). Maybe you were thinking in "puede que hable" where "puede" works like "maybe" in English [puede (it), hable (subjunctive: I, he, she)]

"He de hablar" sounds formal and it's more intense, like something in between of "I must speak", "I am to speak" and "I'm definitively going to speak".

I mixed the puedo and tengo. I know better.
I had never seen the "He de" form until looking at the complete conjugation of Haber. I don't think I would ever use it.
Thank you.

If you do get the opportunity to travel and go to schools in Guatemala it is an incredible experience. I went to a school in Antigua, Guatemala for a month and a half and traveled all over Guatemala. One of the best experiences of my life. I highly recommend it. Good luck.

SpaTeach14, did you get to Monterico? I love the beach and would prefer VERY local setting. If I was looking for 4 stars I could go to Pensacola Beach just across the bay from home.
