Someone I know was exaggerating about being sad and depressed and feeling suicidal, so one of his friends wrote: "So much for a tantrum".

Would the intention of this expression be "that's enough" or rather something sarcastic like "that's not even a tantrum"? :confused:

Any help, as usual, will be highly appreciated.

I've always tried to find an accurate term in Spanish to say that. It's very commonly used and useful, actually.

It is sarcastic.. we'd say something like "pues si eso es una rabieta....:rolleyes:." with 'certain' intonation.

It would be helpful if someone had a better translation..;)

It is definitely a sarcastic phrase. I don't have a good Spanish translation though.

"So much for your plans" would be a sarcastic way of saying "Your plans are ruined"

Talking about a beauty contest where the queen fell down the stage, someone commented "So much for a diva"... As I understand it, this would be saying something like "so that's what's left of a diva", right?

Yes. I love the expression too. It's like saying "Si a esto llaman diva... " but I've never found an ending to that sentence.. just your gesture and intonation say it all. :D

"So much for a diva" would be a shortened version of "So much for her being a diva" which sarcastically means "She just ruined her chances of being a diva by falling in front of everyone"

Since "diva" is about the attitude and demeanor of the woman, if she makes a fool of herself, she can't continue the "I'm better than you" attitude.
