Sólo el golpe
A couple of days ago I stumbled and fell climbing up a stair. When someone was worried about how bad I had been hit, I said "sólo fue el golpe", meaning that I felt I was alright and I didn't think I was seriously injured.
How do I say this in English? |
I'm fine.
Only the landing hurt. Sorry I don't know much Spanish to give you a perfect answer. If I had fallen and wasn't hurt I'd be more embarrassed than anything. The conversation would go like this. "Did you hurt anything?" "Only my pride..." |
Well my book says golpe means blow. So maybe something like " It was only a scratch"?

Sólo fue el golpe. = I just hit myself.

Thank you all for the replies! :rose:
@David: Thanks! I was looking for a noun, but of course it's more suitable like that. :D @Chris & Pollo: Thank you for the alternatives. @Chris: Oh, embarrassment, yes. I'm usually cynical enough as to laugh at myself when I have this kind of accidents, but the man at the stairs was seriously worried and it was necessary to reassure him. :D |

Sometimes you just say "It's just a scratch" when speaking of a particular injury. |
I love this: "It only hurts when I breathe."
 |
