"Se acabó el gas" = "The gas ran out" or "All the gas has been used". The verb acabar has several meanings and uses. When used pronominally (as acabarse) it usually means "to run out" or "to be used up".

"El vaso se quebró" = "The glass broke" or "The glass was broken". The verb "quebrar" generally means "to break (into pieces)". When used pronominally (as quebrarse) it typically means "to become broken (into pieces)".
