confortably numb

Can anyone explain what comfortably numb means in the song of pink floyd? :o sol

It means that you are past feeling (nothing bothers you as it should) or feeling pretty good about things, but unfortunately this feeling of euphoria is due to taking drugs. It is another way to say you're high. It is a false sense of happiness/security.

If we say we're numb to something, it can mean that we've seen it (or dealt with it) time and time again and it doesn't affect us anymore. But comfortably numb usually means that we've achieved the same effect through the use of drugs.

If you've been to a dentist an received novacaine or lidocaine, the sensation you get is numbness. Combine that with being comfortable
about it= comfortably numb.
