Mi cielo

Mi cielo

My sky right? I listen to a local radio show where they have "el sho numero uno en el pais". . . Piolin por la mañana. Anyways, there is a gal/lady that comes on and she always refers to people as her "cielo" or "amor" How common is that and is this just for radio more than anything?

Mi cielo literally means 'my sky', but it's a term of endearment in Spanish. So, the translation would be 'my darling', 'my dear', etc.
Amor is also a term of endearment.

These are both very common, and there are others. Here's a thread on 'terms of endearment' if you wanted to learn a bunch more. ;)

In this context a better translation of "mi cielo" is "my heaven", analogous to saying "my dear" or "sweetheart".

Oh ok. It isn't necessarily used in a romantic context. that is why I have heard mother's say that to their children. Makes sense. Thanks,
