Hello!

Figure i'll keep it simple, so, I'm Andy, I'm 20 years old and i studied Spanish for 2 year when i was 15 and am hoping to get back into speaking it so i can spend some time over in Spain at some point.

So, any help you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi, Andy. Welcome to the forums.

Ask your questions and you'll get the help you need. A couple of the members here live in Spain. Where are you headed?

I'm not entirely sure yet, I just recently decided that i would definitely like to go to Spain in the future, so i want to get a better grasp on the language so that when I'm there I can be independent.

Currently I'm just trying to figure out the best way to start relearning, so i thought joining a forum with Spanish talkers would be the best option :)

There are a lot of ideas about how best to learn Spanish. Ultimately, it comes down to how much effort you give it. Some will say 'purchase a novel written in Spanish (perhaps one you've read before in English, but certainly something that'll keep your attention), transcribe the novel (copy down all the sentences in Spanish) and then translate each sentence into English'. Others would say you'll need a textbook of some sort, much like you used in high school (you'll want one that teaches the Spanish used in Spain). To improve listening skills, others would say 'watch movies and TV shows in Spanish'.
Whatever method(s) you choose, you'll need to immerse yourself in the language (and culture) as much as possible.

There may be someone here in the forums who'd be willing to be a penpal (see the penpals section).
You may want to ask an active member, in their profile or via Private Message, if they'd be willing to Skype with you.

Practice writing what you're learning by posting in the 'Practice & Homework' forum, and you'll receive constructive criticism. :)

Thankyou, that's a huge help! I'm definitely considering the book option, i've never done that before, and i've been talking to s few people in Spanish and watched a few Spanish films, but that's been great advice, thanks!
